| It was in 1986 in the food court of First Canadian Place
that we faithfully put our savings into what seemed like a fruitless
run-of-the-mill, over-the-counter cafeteria. We embarked with nothing more than a few good menu ideas,
and conviction in the maxim that in the restaurant industry: 'good food is good
business'. Within a year of naming
our business Pumpernickels Deli and Catering and introducing original classic
homemade deli items, the food spoke for itself. Day after day, the lineups in front of the counter seemed to
stretch farther and farther out of sight.
Lunch-lovers of FCP spread the good word of Pumpernickel's, and in no
time a contagious enthusiasm filled the lines.
It was in this wave of enthusiasm that Pumpernickel's
expanded into a 13-location franchise throughout the GTA ranging from Pumpernickel's
express to a sit-in cafe. From our
first menu idea to our current, our concept has been to bring European and Mediterranean
inspired foods, using high quality ingredients and innovative recipes for our
health-conscientious clientele. We
believe that the development of the Pumpernickel's Franchise began organically
from our first kitchen and uncompromising passion for food. It is for this reason that our simple
but high-quality food has risen above the common standards of the food courts,
to the boardrooms of Toronto's financial buildings.
We are grateful for the dedication, talent, and hard work of
our staff, some whom have been with us since the beginning. We are also grateful for all our
customers, many of whom have developed long-lasting business relationships over
the years. We look forward to
forging new relationships and welcome those who have not yet tried our food to
join the Pumpernickel's legacy!
Sincerely,
Shlomo and Zvia Ziv
